This phrase popped into my head this morning: "s/he thinks s/he's GOD's gift to the world/women/men/fill-in-the-blank." We use it in a sarcastic tone to talk about someone who is full of themselves. I know I'm guilty of it. But it made me think. Wait, but I AM god's gift to the world. And so is whomever you or I MAY have been judging as conceited or having an inflated ego. Hear me out here.
You see, we were all put here with gifts. We have not all realized or utilized them - we blame it on not being ready, it not being the right time -- as if we're still in an incubation with an imitation sun shining on us waiting for the universe to open a door to us somewhere, lift the velvet ropes and say, "right this way, miss..." But really? We're just scared. Yep I said it. Fear destroys our attempts to actualize our dreams. And our dreams are connected to our talents. The dreams in our heart relate to our natural abilities (ie, inherent "gifts"). These are designed to be shared with the world. By sharing we will help others. I am more certain of this than I am of anything.
Why am I beating my chest about this today? Because I sat far too long and let my dreams go. I ignored all of the things that made me me because I was terrified. Now I'm not talking at all about health or fitness - these are just tools I use to get me and the people I help to our better selves, so we can REALLY focus on what matters. And this is it.
The good news is, it's not too late. Yes I'm a lawyer. I'm also a writer, singer, chef, muse, barista, tv personality, coach, and many other dreams that I haven't even tapped into yet. These are just some of the gifts that I bring. What are yours?
